Graeme joined the board in 2013 and his tenure included a bank name change, appointment of the bank's first female CEO, navigating a global pandemic, an increase in compliance requirements for all banks and the move towards a greater reliance on digital banking.

'My focus has always been on helping individuals, and corporations, achieve their financial objectives,' Graeme said.

'There is nothing better than knowing that the work that you’re doing is having a positive impact. Of course, with that comes great responsibility and with a strong board aligned with a supportive executive team all focused on a clear strategy to benefit Members – it’s a great sector to be involved in.'

'Mutual banking is a fascinating cog in the financial sector wheel and there will always be a place for us at the banking table,' Graeme said.

Chair Simon Terry thanked Graeme for his commitment and service to Bank First.

'This organisation is all the better for Graeme’s time on our board during a period of tremendous change in the banking sector,' he said.

'Graeme's wisdom and guidance on all issues, but particularly in his role as Chair of the Board Risk Committee, has been a feature of his tenure and I am grateful for this care and consideration for our Members, our people and our business.'

In farewelling Graeme, Simon has welcomed experienced non-executive director and senior executive in financial services, Mike Thornton to the Bank First boardroom.
