Bank First Chair Bernie Lloyd has been added to the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM) Honour Roll for her service to banking and financial services.
Bernie was one of eight inductees to be honoured at BCCM’s Annual Leaders' Summit.
Bernie joined the Victorian Teachers Limited board in 2010 as a board intern, a program created to engage young school principals who had the interest, and capacity to become board directors. She was elected as a director in 2011 and became Chair in 2015.
Bernie’s directorship will come to an at this year’s AGM, to be held on 21 November - 13 years after she first joined the board. While the maximum director tenure is 12 years, Members voted in favour of Bernie serving on the board for an additional 12 months at an EGM in 2023.
When historians write about this period, I really hope they recognise the courage of the current board of directors and the leadership Bernie has shown through this period of tremendous change and growth. The decisions Bernie has made, along with her fellow board directors, will have an impact well beyond her time as Chair. Bank First CEO, Michelle Bagnall

Under her leadership, the bank extended its niche market to include nurses and allied health professionals in 2018 and appointed its first female CEO in 2020. She has played a crucial role in ensuring Bank First evolved with the times. BCCM CEO, Melina Morrison.
